Questions in CHALLENGER 115 - 180
- Dear sir:
Thanks for answering my earlier question regarding voltage. You answer is "We are using in all our amplifiers a transformer which can be adjusted to all voltages like 110 - 220 - or 240 for the UK by changing the wires."
Now my question is: can I ask you for instuctions and do it myself or ask a local technician (in Asia) do it?
Thanks! (5401 views)
- Hello,
I can't find any information on Challenger 160 amps. Is this an older model? How different are they from Challenger 150's?
Thanks,

- Can I use the following tubes in my Challenger 140's?
KT100 Liuzhou:
Contrary to popular opinion, this is not an uprated KT88. It was made under contract by the Liuzhou tube factory for a well known European tube company. The bottle is much bigger and heavier than a KT88, and the anode structure is entirely different. Peak anode voltage is 600v with 550v being comfortable for this tube. It can dissipate 50W. This tube presents interesting possibilities: If your amp has a beefy enough power transformer you can bias it into class A operation with this tube. Plays with wonderful authority and control.
Respectfully, Jeff Hopkins

We just understand nothing if it is not transalted in English....
Thanks and congratulations for your beautiful design...

- Hello,
I recently purchased a pair of older AV Challenger 140 that uses all tempered smoked glass.
What are the changes from my amp model to the current Challenger 150?
I can provide serial # if necessary.
Thanks in advanced. (7464 views)
- I am using the Eklipse and Avalon amplifiers. The amplifiers are rated for mains AC voltage of 230 volts. The AC voltage in my house is not stable. Sometimes it can go up to 250 volts. Will this cause any problem or damage my amplifiers in the long run.(20278 views)
